Well it was a Hail of a storm...then roofers out the wahoo!!! We recently went with Elk for our new roof and they were AMAZING. Their customer service is great, and easy to get ahold of. The roof itself came out great and was done in literally no time. Not only that but they’re so clean I didn’t need to worry about any stray nails in the driveway or backyard, AND they went around our neighbors yards to make sure no trash was left behind for them as well!

My new roof looks great and I think I got a nice upgrade over my existing roof. ELK’s crew worked steadily to complete the job quickly. The crew was friendly, avoided damaging anything on the ground (as the old shingles came off), and they did a great job cleaning up at the end. ELK added key enhancements that my old roof lacked, including improved ventilation, upgraded shingles, proper drip edge flashing, and new gutters. Nick was very easy to work with and answered all my questions. ELK is local for me and was very responsive. ELK also worked well with my insurance company to get me a great value. They far exceeded the other roofer I had considered for the job.

We used ELK Contracting LLC to replace our roof and gutters, and we couldn’t be happier. With all the rain we’ve been having, we noticed some water dripping from the ceiling. Talked to Dennis and he came out THAT DAY, a Sunday. Got the cowboy on the roof and he diagnosed our problem. Not needing a new roof yet, he caulked up a few holes and , voila, problem solved. And no charge. This is the second time he helped us out. I can’t recommend any other roofer than Dennis Garrett, and he is our roofer for life. God bless that man.

Superior experience from beginning to completion with Dennis Garrett at Elk Contracting. I have been doing extensive research "before" needing to replace my aging roof. After receiving several quotes and recommendations, I was thoroughly impressed with the depth of knowledge, no pressure tactics, just the facts, that Mr Garrett presented.
The crew worked very well together. Everything including my pool and plants were covered. Nothing was damaged and clean up was amazing.

We had hail damage to our roof and reached out to Michael D. with Elk Contracting. He met us at our home and was present for the entire inspection with our insurance adjuster. Our insurance company was difficult to work with, but thanks to Michael’s experience and persistence, they ultimately approved a full roof replacement instead of just minor repairs.

Our roof was in rough shape, so we were shocked that insurance initially tried to lowball us. Thankfully, Michael knew exactly how to handle it. When we had a date for roof replacement the Elk Contracting crew delivered all the materials the day before so they could get started right away. They arrived early, worked efficiently, and completed the job in a very reasonable amount of time.

They were respectful of our property, did a fantastic job cleaning up, and made sure to repair all underlying damage before laying the new shingles. I’ve heard so many horror stories about roofing projects, but our experience couldn’t have been easier from start to finish. The new roof looks beautiful, and we know it was done right.

Wow, I cannot say enough good things about Dennis Dean Garrett - the "Cowboy on Your Roof"! During recent heavy rains, the roof began leaking. He answered my Facebook inquiry message quickly, arrived within an hour and a half, climbed up on my roof and diagnosed the problems, personally delivered materials on Friday evening, and they showed up Saturday and did quality repairs and complete cleanup in a very short time! Dennis himself came back out the next day to help with some maintenance on old roofing issues I had (removing old satellite and internet towers that had been lag bolted through both roofs causing leaks and replacing more shingles and sealing as needed), which I consider going above and beyond! This is a man of honesty and integrity (you don't see much of that anymore), and I wouldn't use anyone else but this Cowboy on my Roof! Give him a call - you will be glad you did!

Dennis Garrett "The Cowboy on the Roof" from Elk Contracting exceeded all expectations! He arrived at our property early this week to assess whether our roof needed repairs or a full replacement. After a thorough evaluation and a very competitive quote, we moved forward with a full replacement—thanks in large part to the excellent price Dennis provided.

By Thursday of that same week, all materials were delivered and staged on-site. Remarkably, by Friday evening, the entire roof replacement was 100% complete.

Dennis kept us informed every step of the way with outstanding communication and coordination. His professionalism, attention to detail, and top-tier craftsmanship truly set him apart.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Elk Contracting. Mr. Mike is an honest, straightforward, and easy-going contractor. I never felt pressured at any point, and he was always willing to answer my questions and educate me on the roof replacement process.

A little backstory: I had noticed roof damage and reached out to several companies, but most of them quoted me exorbitant fees and suggested I try my insurance. When I filed a claim, my insurance initially denied it, saying there was no hail damage,
even though we’d had multiple storms in the area and I had broken shingles in my yard.

My dad had previously worked with Elk Contracting and recommended Mr. Mike. When he came out to inspect my roof, I mentioned the insurance denial. Without hesitation, he offered to meet the adjuster himself and point out the damages he observed. Sure enough, when the insurance came back for a reassessment, Mr. Mike walked them through the damage, and my claim was reversed. Insurance ended up covering the roof.

On replacement day, Mr. Mike and his crew arrived early, completed the job in about eight hours, and left me with an outstanding result. The roof looks fantastic, and the whole process was seamless. I was left with a certificate that would reduce my insurance cost and peace of mind for a roof that needed replacement.

Great service, quick, quality work

Dennis Garrett and the guys from Elk Contracting did a phenomenal job on our roof in downtown Schulenburg. We had a very old standing seam metal roof that was easily twice as old as I am. We had countless leaks. I plan on keeping our business going for another 30+ years so I wanted to go with an option that I wouldn’t have to worry about ever again. After meeting with Dennis and discussing pricing options we decided to go back to a metal roof again. Him and his crew got to work quick and did a phenomenal job. I was blown away by how amazing our roof turned out. I’ve heard horror stories from many people when it comes to roofing companies. Dennis and his crew are not those guys. Straightforward, honest, and professional work. 10/10 Recommend.

I am 100% satisfied with the service Elk Contracting provided from the very beginning of my roofing claim back in March. From day one they were right beside me every step of the way.
